RIVA Technologies supports simulation system development at all levels, from initial consulting at the concept stages to complete turn-key system developments. As a Silicon Graphics authorized Systems Integrator, RIVA Technologies is capable of combining leading edge Silicon Graphics hardware with the latest advances in Object Oriented design practices. Some recent RIVA Technologies simulation system developments include:
TERPview Visual System for FAA Converging Approach Analysis
The TERPview Visual System, developed by RIVA Technologies under contract to the Federal Aviation Administration, is utilized by the FAA Flight Standards Branch to support analysis and visualization of modified airport landing approaches. The system combines terrain elevation data with FAA obstruction and airport databases, and manufacturer certified flight dynamics models to provide accurate dynamic analysis of airport approaches. The system includes automated airport scene generation utilities which combine the various databases and automatically generate the airport visual scene. This allows the FAA to quickly analyze approaches at a large number of airports without the need for custom model development for each analysis project.
F-22 Virtual Cockpit and Concept Demonstrator
The F-22 Virtual Cockpit (VC) and Concept Demonstrator (CD) were initially developed to support F-22 EM&D systems development. Initially conceived as rapid prototyping tools, the F22 VC and CD were utilized by the F-22 design team to quickly prototype cockpit displays both internally to the airframe prime contractors and with display subcontractors. The high fidelity of the simulation coupled with the rapid development cycle, allowed the design team to solicit input from many sources during the design process. RIVA Technologies' core software engineering personnel were key members of the General Dynamics/Lockheed team which developed the initial F-22 Concept Demonstrator and Virtual Cockpit systems. Currently under contract to Lockheed-Martin Aeronautical Systems, RIVA Technologies is developing a new F-22 Virtual Cockpit with enhancements to improve portability and support common device interfaces.
Synthetic Environment Data Representation and Interchange Specification (SEDRIS)
Under contract to Coryphaeus Software Inc., RIVA Technologies is supporting Object Analysis and initial API software development for the next generation Visual Database tools to support the SEDRIS common visual database format. The highly complex SEDRIS interchange specification initiative - a project of the U.S. Army Simulation, Training & Instrumentation Command (STRICOM) - will incorporate not only 3D geometry data, but also dynamic behaviors, audio attributes, and such visual attributes as infrared, radar and synthetic forces, and other simulation-related artifacts. The SEDRIS project will also develop a model of a single synthetic environment which meets the requirements for all Department of Defense simulated environments, including SAF/CGF, plan-view displays, navigation maps and virtual simulators with out-the-window and sensor views.
Silicon Graphics Systems Consulting
Under contract to Silicon Graphics, RIVA Technologies supports on-site Silicon Graphics systems consulting to high-end visual simulation customers such as Hughes Training. Systems Consulting services range from specific short-term problem solving for existing systems designs to long-term on-site support.
